  • 3 tbsp Water
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 0.5 tsp Nutmeg (ground)
  • 0.5 tsp Allspice (ground)
  • 0.5 tsp Paprika (smoked or sweet)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper (ground)
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 250 ml Plant-based gravy or vegan cream sauce (optional, for serving)
  • 2 tbsp Parsley (chopped, optional for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, mix the ground flaxseed and water, then set aside for 5 minutes to form a flax 'egg'.

In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, rolled oats, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, nutmeg, allspice, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until the mixture is well combined but still slightly textured.
