Ingredients

  • 500 g All-purpose flour
  • 7 g Instant yeast
  • 250 ml Plant-based milk (e.g., oat, almond, or soy)
  • 75 g Vegan butter
  • 50 g Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Ground cinnamon
  • 100 g Soft brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Cardamom powder
  • 50 g Additional vegan butter for filling
  • 50 g Powdered sugar (optional, for glaze)
  • 1 tbsp Water (optional, for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan, gently warm the plant-based milk over low heat until lukewarm (about 37°C or 98°F). Remove from heat and whisk in the granulated sugar and instant yeast. Let rest for 5 minutes until foamy.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and cardamom powder. Pour in the yeast mixture and melted vegan butter (75 g), then mix until a sticky dough forms.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 7-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5-7 minutes.

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
