Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 piece large egg
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease or line a baking sheet or loaf pan with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently using clean hands or a spatula until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.

Step 3

Shape the mixture into a loaf form and place it on the prepared baking sheet or press it into a loaf pan.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar to make the sweet and tangy glaze.

Step 5

Spread about half of the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Step 6

Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.

Step 7

After 40 minutes, remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the remaining glaze on top. Return it to the oven and bake for another 20 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 8

Once cooked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

Step 9

Slice and garnish with chopped parsley, if using, and serve warm. Pair with mashed potatoes, a green vegetable, or your favorite side dish.
