Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 oz cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 sliced tomato
  • 8 sliced pickles
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently with your hands until evenly combined, but do not overwork the mixture.

Step 2

Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions. Flatten each portion into a thin patty about 4 inches in diameter.

Step 3

Cut the cheddar cheese into 4 squares, about 1 ounce each. Place one cheese square in the center of 4 beef patties.

Step 4

Place the remaining 4 patties on top of the cheese-topped patties. Pinch the edges tightly to seal the cheese in the center and reshape into uniform burger patties.

Step 5

Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium heat and lightly coat with vegetable oil.

Step 6

Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F and the cheese inside is melty.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each hamburger bun, followed by a cooked patty. Top with sliced tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Add the top half of the bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately and enjoy the cheesy surprise inside!
