Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 0.25 cup ketchup (for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard (for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, finely chopped onion, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and parsley.

Step 3

Mix everything gently but thoroughly with your hands or a wooden spoon until the ingredients are fully incorporated. Be careful not to overmix as this can make the meatloaf dense.

Step 4

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a loaf pan. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf shape on the baking sheet or press it into the loaf pan.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard for the topping. Spread this sauce evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 160°F (70°C).

Step 7

Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes after removing it from the oven to allow the juices to redistribute.

Step 8

Slice and serve warm with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a garden salad.
