  • 4 lbs Chicken pieces (drumsticks, thighs, wings, or breasts)
  • 3 cups Buttermilk

  • 2 tsp Onion powder
  • 2 tsp Paprika
  • 1.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 0.25 cup Water
  • 8 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Mix well.

Step 2

Add the chicken pieces to the buttermilk mixture, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for the best flavor.

In another large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).

In a medium bowl, lightly beat the eggs and mix in the water to create an egg wash.
