Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the fettuccine pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.
Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter to the pan.
Once the butter is melted, place the chicken breasts in the skillet. Cook for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is golden brown and fully cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
