Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoons salt
  • 0.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cups light brown sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, melted
  • 0.75 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 pieces large eggs
  • 0.25 cups granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease it with nonstick spray.

Step 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined. Set aside.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, milk, vanilla extract, and eggs until smooth and creamy.

Step 4

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold together using a spatula. Mix until just combined—be careful not to overmix, as this can make the muffins dense.

Step 5

Evenly divide the batter among the prepared muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full.

Step 6

In a small bowl, combine the topping sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the tops of the muffin batter.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 16–18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

Step 8

Remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy your homemade Sugar and Spice Muffins!
