Ingredients

  • 200 grams Raisins
  • 200 grams Sultanas
  • 100 grams Dried cherries (unsweetened)
  • 100 grams Dried apricots (unsweetened, finely chopped)
  • 2 large Apple (peeled, cored, and finely chopped)
  • 1 whole Orange (zest and juice)
  • 1 whole Lemon (zest and juice)
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon Allspice
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground cloves
  • 3 tablespoons Coconut oil (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger (grated)
  • 100 milliliters Apple cider (unsweetened)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1

Prepare all your dried fruit by measuring them out and chopping the dried apricots into small pieces. Place the raisins, sultanas, dried cherries, and dried apricots in a large mixing bowl.

Step 2

Peel, core, and finely chop the apples. Add them to the bowl with the dried fruits.

Step 3

Zest and juice the orange and lemon. Add the zest and juice to the fruit mixture, stirring well to combine.

Step 4

Sprinkle the ground cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves over the fruit. Add the grated ginger and stir thoroughly to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.

Step 5

Add the melted coconut oil, apple cider, and vanilla extract to the mixture. Stir again to combine all ingredients evenly.

Step 6

Transfer the mixture to a large saucepan. Place the saucepan over low to medium heat and cook gently for 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. The apples should soften, and the mixture will thicken as the dried fruits plump up.

Step 7

Once the mixture is cooked, remove it from the heat and let it cool completely. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

Step 8

Spoon the cooled mincemeat into sterilized jars, leaving a small gap at the top. Seal the jars tightly and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for longer storage.

Step 9

Use this sugar-free mincemeat as a filling for your favorite mince pies, tarts, or other festive desserts!
