  • 0.5 cup Fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1.5 teaspoons Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper

  • 0.25 cup Fresh parsley, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Heat the olive oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, stirring frequently, until golden and fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Step 3

Crush the tomatoes by hand or use a blender for a smoother texture, and then add them along with their juices to the pot.

Step 4

Stir in the tomato paste, mixing well to combine with the tomatoes.

Step 5

Add the chopped basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

Step 6

Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low.

Step 7

Let the sauce simmer uncovered for about 35 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency.

Step 8

Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

Step 9

Stir in the fresh parsley just before serving.

Step 10

Serve hot over your favorite pasta or use as a base for pizza.
