Ingredients

  • 500 grams Chicken (boneless, skinless, cut into cubes)
  • 3 tablespoons Oil (preferably mustard or vegetable)
  • 1 whole Green bell pepper (capsicum, medium, sliced)
  • 2 whole Onion (medium, sliced)
  • 2 medium Tomatoes (pureed)
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 whole Green chilies (slit)
  • 2 teaspoons Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon Kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)

Directions

Step 1

Heat the oil in a large Kadai or a deep frying pan over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Step 3

Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for 2-3 minutes until the raw aroma disappears.

Step 4

Add the chicken cubes and cook for 5 minutes until they turn white and start to brown slightly.

Step 5

Stir in the sliced bell pepper and sauté for another 2 minutes.

Step 6

Add the tomato puree, salt, coriander powder, Kashmiri red chili powder, and turmeric powder. Mix well and cook until the oil starts to separate from the tomato puree.

Step 7

Cover the pan and let it cook on low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.

Step 8

Uncover and add the garam masala and kasuri methi. Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes.

Step 9

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.

Step 10

Serve hot with roti, naan, or steamed rice.
