Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Start by making the balsamic glaze. Pour the balsamic vinegar into a small saucepan and place over medium heat. Let it simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until it reduces by half and becomes syrupy, about 10-12 minutes. Then, remove from heat and set aside to cool.
Meanwhile, wash and dry the tomatoes. Slice each tomato in half horizontally. Lightly brush each side with olive oil.
Finely mince the garlic. In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic with the remaining olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
Place the tomato halves cut-side down on the hot grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes until they have nice grill marks.
