Ingredients

  • 2 whole Romaine lettuce hearts
  • 2 tablespoons Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Sea salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Step 2

Rinse the romaine lettuce hearts under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Keep them whole and leave the core intact to hold the leaves together.

Step 3

In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper.

Step 4

Brush the olive oil mixture generously over the cut side of each romaine heart.

Step 5

Place the romaine hearts cut side down on the preheated grill. Grill for about 2-3 minutes until the lettuce is slightly charred and has grill marks.

Step 6

Carefully turn the romaine hearts and grill for an additional 2 minutes on the other side.

Step 7

Remove the romaine hearts from the grill and place them on a serving platter.

Step 8

Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley, if using, before serving.

Step 9

Serve the grilled romaine lettuce warm as a delicious sugar-free side dish or appetizer.
