Directions

Step 1

Heat the milk in a saucepan until it's warm (around 37°C or 98°F) but not hot.

Step 2

Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted, then add the yeast and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture with unsweetened applesauce and the egg, mixing well.

Step 4

In another bowl, mix the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, and salt.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.

Step 6

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 7

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 8

Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle approximately 30x45 cm (12x18 inches).

Step 9

Melt the butter for the filling, then mix with the cinnamon and erythritol.

Step 10

Spread the cinnamon-butter mixture evenly over the dough.
