Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 to 18 minutes or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 5 minutes.
In a large mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, grated pear, green onions, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well to combine all the marinade ingredients.
