Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
  • 3 tablespoons Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons Water
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Stevia or Monk fruit sweetener

Directions

Step 1

In a small mixing bowl, combine the gochugaru and gochujang. Mix until they are well blended and form a consistent paste.

Step 2

Add the soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, and rice vinegar to the bowl. Stir well to ensure all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 3

Add the sesame oil, water, and black pepper to the mixture. Stir to combine, creating a smooth sauce.

Step 4

Taste the sauce for heat and add more gochugaru if a spicier profile is desired.

Step 5

Now stir in the stevia or monk fruit sweetener until dissolved, adjusting the sweetness to taste if necessary.

Step 6

Transfer the sauce to a small saucepan. Heat over low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the ingredients meld together and the sauce slightly thickens.

Step 7

Remove from heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature. Serve over cooked chicken or use as a marinade.

Step 8

Store any unused sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
