In a medium bowl, combine the besan, chopped onion, tomato, green chili, grated ginger, and coriander leaves.
Add cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, asafoetida, and salt to the mixture.
Gradually add water to the dry ingredients while stirring continuously to form a smooth, lump-free batter.
Heat a non-stick pan on medium heat and lightly grease it with a little oil.
Pour a ladleful of batter onto the center of the pan and spread it gently in a circular motion to form a thin pancake, about 5-6 inches in diameter.
