Ingredients

  • 1 piece store-bought pie crust
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 cup onion (finely chopped)
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie pan and prick the bottom lightly with a fork. Set it aside.

Step 2

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon, chop it into small pieces, and set aside. Leave about 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in the skillet.

Step 3

Add the butter to the skillet with the bacon grease and heat over medium-low heat. Sauté the finely chopped onion for 3-4 minutes until softened. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 4

In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, and milk until smooth. Stir in the salt, black pepper, and optional nutmeg.

Step 5

Sprinkle the cooked bacon, sautéed onion, and grated Gruyère cheese evenly over the pie crust. Pour the egg mixture gently on top, ensuring the fillings are evenly distributed.

Step 6

Top the quiche with the grated Parmesan cheese for an extra layer of flavor.

Step 7

Carefully place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden.

Step 8

Allow the quiche to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your delicious Sudden Quiche Lorraine!
