Ingredients

  • 500 grams Strawberries
  • 3 Oranges
  • 100 grams Granulated sugar
  • 120 milliliters Water
  • 4 Cardamom pods
  • 10 leaves Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Wash the strawberries thoroughly. Hull them and slice them into halves or quarters, depending on their size. Place in a large mixing bowl.

Step 2

Peel the oranges, ensuring all white pith is removed. Segment the oranges by slicing between the membranes to release the segments. Add the segments to the bowl with the strawberries.

Step 3

To make the cardamom syrup, combine the granulated sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat.

Step 4

Crush the cardamom pods lightly with the back of a spoon to release their aroma. Add the pods to the saucepan.

Step 5

Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved. Let it simmer gently for 5 minutes to allow the cardamom flavor to infuse.

Step 6

Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the syrup to cool slightly. Strain out the cardamom pods using a fine mesh sieve before use.

Step 7

Drizzle the cardamom syrup over the strawberries and oranges in the bowl. Gently toss to combine and ensure the fruit is evenly coated.

Step 8

Transfer the salad to a serving dish or individual bowls. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Step 9

Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 hours before serving for a chilled version.
