Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Frozen puff pastry sheets (thawed)
  • 1 cup Strawberry jam
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour (for dusting)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Water
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar (optional, for sprinkling)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Dust a clean countertop or work surface with the all-purpose flour. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets gently to ensure an even thickness.

Step 3

Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut each puff pastry sheet into 4 equal squares, making a total of 8 squares.

Step 4

Place about 1 to 1.5 tablespoons of strawberry jam in the center of each square. Be careful not to overfill as the jam may leak out during baking.

Step 5

In a small bowl, beat the egg with the water to create an egg wash. Brush the edges of each pastry square lightly with the egg wash.

Step 6

Fold each square diagonally to form triangles, enclosing the jam inside. Press the edges firmly with a fork to seal them completely.

Step 7

Place the sealed turnovers onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Brush the tops of the turnovers with the remaining egg wash for a beautiful golden finish.

Step 8

If desired, sprinkle granulated sugar on top for added sweetness and texture.

Step 9

Bake the turnovers in the preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown.

Step 10

Remove the turnovers from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 11

Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
