Ingredients

  • 500 grams fresh strawberries
  • 75 grams granulated sugar
  • 120 milliliters water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 5 leaves optional mint leaves (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the strawberries under cold water and remove the stems.

Step 2

In a blender or food processor, combine the strawberries, sugar, water, and lemon juice. Blend until smooth.

Step 3

Pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a shallow freezer-safe dish to remove seeds, using a spoon to help push the liquid through.

Step 4

Place the dish in the freezer and let it freeze for 30 minutes.

Step 5

After 30 minutes, use a fork to scrape the ice crystals that have formed around the edges of the dish and mix them into the center. Repeat this process every 30 minutes for 3-4 hours until the entire mixture is frozen and flaky.

Step 6

Once fully frozen and the texture is granular, use a fork to fluff the granita one final time.

Step 7

Spoon the granita into serving glasses or bowls, garnish with mint leaves if desired, and serve immediately.
