Ingredients

  • 6 medium (peeled, cored, and chopped) Apples
  • 2 cups (hulled and halved) Strawberries
  • 0.5 cups Water
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Honey (optional, for sweetness)

Directions

Step 1

Peel, core, and chop the apples into small chunks.

Step 2

Hull and halve the strawberries. Set them aside with the apples.

Step 3

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the chopped apples, strawberries, and water.

Step 4

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft.

Step 6

Once the fruit is tender, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the lemon juice.

Step 7

If you prefer a sweeter applesauce, add honey to taste and mix well.

Step 8

For a chunky applesauce, use a potato masher to mash the mixture to your desired consistency. For a smoother texture, use an immersion blender or transfer the mixture to a blender and puree until smooth.

Step 9

Allow the applesauce to cool to room temperature before serving or storing in the refrigerator for up to one week.
