Ingredients

  • 14 oz firm tofu
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 8 oz button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups sugar snap peas, trimmed
  • 4 green onions, sliced into 2-inch segments
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess water. Cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes.

Step 2

In a small bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated. This will help them crisp up when cooked.

Step 3

Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the tofu in a single layer and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Remove the tofu from the pan and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
