Ingredients

  • 450 grams Frozen edamame (in pods, unpeeled)
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Chili garlic sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Honey (or maple syrup for vegan option)
  • 1 teaspoon Rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add a pinch of salt.

Step 2

Cook the frozen edamame in the boiling water for 3-4 minutes, or until tender. Drain well and set aside.

Step 3

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, honey (or maple syrup), and rice vinegar. Set this sauce aside.

Step 4

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium heat and add sesame oil.

Step 5

Once the oil is hot, add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds, stirring constantly, until fragrant.

Step 6

Add the cooked edamame into the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes to coat the pods with the garlic and oil.

Step 7

Pour in the prepared sauce and toss the edamame to coat evenly. Stir-fry for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and clings to the pods.

Step 8

Remove the skillet from heat. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, adding a small pinch of salt if desired.

Step 9

Transfer the spicy edamame to a serving bowl and garnish with sesame seeds, if using.

Step 10

Serve immediately as a snack or side dish, eating the beans directly out of the pods by squeezing them with your fingers.
