Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 stalks green onions, sliced
  • 0.5 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional for spice)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 4 cups steamed white rice (for serving)

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Set aside.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the vegetable oil.

Step 3

Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the shrimp to the skillet. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and are just cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set them aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, pour in the prepared sauce mixture. Stir constantly until the sauce begins to thicken, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 6

Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat evenly in the garlic sauce.

Step 7

Add the green onions and red chili flakes (if using) to the skillet. Drizzle with sesame oil, then stir well to combine.

Step 8

Remove from heat and serve immediately with steamed white rice.
