Ingredients

  • 450 grams Fresh spinach leaves
  • 3 units Garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1

Wash the spinach leaves thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or grit. Shake off excess water but do not dry completely, as a little moisture helps in cooking.

Step 2

Peel and finely chop the garlic cloves.

Step 3

Heat olive oil in a large wok or frying pan over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Add the chopped garlic to the pan and stir-fry for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.

Step 5

Increase the heat to high and add the spinach to the pan. Use tongs or a spatula to toss the spinach quickly and evenly, ensuring all leaves are coated in the garlic oil.

Step 6

Pour in the soy sauce, and continue to stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes, until the spinach is wilted but still bright green.

Step 7

Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Step 8

Sprinkle with sesame seeds and give everything a final toss to combine evenly.

Step 9

Serve the stir-fried spinach immediately as a side dish or over rice for a light meal.
