Ingredients

  • 8 pieces fresh figs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt or vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Wash the figs thoroughly, then pat them dry with a paper towel. Cut each fig in half lengthwise.

Step 2

In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat until it starts to bubble.

Step 3

Add the honey, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon to the melted butter. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is smooth and syrupy, about 2 minutes.

Step 4

Place the fig halves cut side down into the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the figs start to caramelize and soften.

Step 5

Gently flip the figs over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, spooning the syrup over the top as they cook.

Step 6

Add the vanilla extract, orange zest, and water to the skillet. Stir gently to combine and allow the mixture to cook for another 2 minutes until slightly thickened.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from heat. Let the figs cool slightly in the syrup before serving.

Step 8

Serve the sticky cinnamon figs warm with a dollop of Greek yogurt or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delicious treat.
