Ingredients

  • 6 pieces Chicken thighs
  • 0.25 cups Soy sauce
  • 0.25 cups Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds
  • 2 stalks Green onions
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Pat the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel and season them with salt and black pepper on both sides.

Step 2

Mince the garlic and grate the ginger. Set both aside.

Step 3

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or pan over medium heat. Once hot, place the chicken thighs skin-side down and sear for 4-5 minutes or until golden and crispy. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.

Step 4

In the same pan, lower the heat to medium-low and add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 5

Add the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, and rice vinegar to the pan. Mix well and allow the sauce to simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Slowly pour the slurry into the sauce while stirring continuously. Let the sauce thicken for about 1-2 minutes.

Step 7

Return the chicken thighs to the pan, coating them thoroughly in the sticky sauce. Lower the heat, cover the pan, and allow the chicken to cook for another 10-12 minutes until fully cooked (internal temperature should read 165°F or 74°C). Flip the chicken halfway through cooking for even coating.

Step 8

Sprinkle sesame seeds over the chicken and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Step 9

Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles for the perfect meal.
