Ingredients

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts
  • 0.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoons black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces button mushrooms, sliced
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth
  • 0.5 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a shallow bowl, mix the flour with paprika, garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper.

Step 2

Dredge each chicken breast in the flour mixture until fully coated and set aside. Save any remaining flour mixture for later use.

Step 3

Heat 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 4

Add the chicken breasts to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and nearly cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter. Stir in the sliced onions and cook for 3-5 minutes, until they start to soften.

Step 6

Add the mushrooms to the skillet and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are tender and slightly browned.

Step 7

Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the reserved flour mixture over the onions and mushrooms and stir to coat evenly. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.

Step 8

Slowly pour in the chicken broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until it begins to thicken.

Step 9

Stir in the heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce. Add the remaining 0.5 teaspoon of salt and adjust seasoning to taste.

Step 10

Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce. Lower the heat to a simmer and cover the skillet with a lid.

Step 11

Cook for 10-12 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.

Step 12

Remove the skillet from heat and garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Step 13

Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite side dish.
