Ingredients

  • 400 grams soft tofu
  • 150 grams ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 2 stalks scallions
  • 0.25 teaspoon white pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cooking oil

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the ingredients: Mince the garlic and ginger, finely chop the scallions, and set aside. Drain the tofu and cut it into 1-inch thick slices or cubes.

Step 2

Prepare the pork mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the ground pork, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, water, minced garlic, minced ginger, white pepper, and salt. Mix well until the pork is evenly seasoned.

Step 3

Prepare the tofu base: Arrange the tofu slices or cubes on a heatproof plate that fits inside a steamer. Leave some space between the pieces for even cooking.

Step 4

Assemble the dish: Spread the seasoned pork mixture evenly over the tofu. Try to distribute the pork topping so that each piece of tofu gets a layer of the mixture.

Step 5

Steam the dish: Set up your steamer by bringing water in the pot to a boil. Place the plate of tofu and pork into the steamer carefully, cover, and steam over medium heat for 12-15 minutes, or until the pork is fully cooked and tender.

Step 6

Garnish and serve: Remove the steamed tofu and pork from the steamer and sprinkle the chopped scallions on top. Optionally, drizzle with a bit more sesame oil before serving. Serve hot with steamed rice or as part of a larger meal.
