Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 pound Ground pork (or chicken/beef)
  • 2 cups Green cabbage (shredded)
  • 3 stalks Green onions (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger (grated)
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Pepper

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, mix the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and warm water. Knead the mixture into a smooth dough, adding the vegetable oil gradually as you knead.

Step 2

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.

Step 3

While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork (or your preferred protein choice), shredded cabbage, chopped green onions, grated ginger, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until evenly combined.

Step 4

After the dough has risen, punch it down and knead it for another 2-3 minutes. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.

Step 5

Flatten each ball into a round disc (about 4 inches in diameter) using a rolling pin or your hands.

Step 6

Place 1-2 tablespoons of the filling mixture in the center of each disc. Gather the edges of the dough and pinch them together at the top to seal, creating a seam. Make sure the buns are tightly sealed to avoid any filling leakage.

Step 7

Place the buns on small squares of parchment paper to prevent sticking during steaming.

Step 8

Fill a steamer pot with water and bring it to a boil. Arrange the buns in the steamer, leaving enough space between each bun for expansion.

Step 9

Cover the steamer with a lid, and steam the buns over medium-high heat for 15-20 minutes.

Step 10

Carefully remove the buns from the steamer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Step 11

Enjoy the steamed stuffed buns warm, either on their own or with a dipping sauce of your choice!
