Ingredients

  • 250 g raw prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • 2 tbsp chives, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp white pepper
  • 1 bowl water

Directions

Step 1

Coarsely chop the raw prawns and place them in a mixing bowl.

Step 2

Add the chopped chives, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, cornstarch, salt, and white pepper to the prawns. Mix until well combined.

Step 3

To make the dumplings, take a wonton wrapper and place it on a clean surface. Keep a small bowl of water nearby.

Step 4

Place a heaping teaspoon of prawn mixture in the center of the wrapper.

Step 5

Dip your finger into the bowl of water and moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper.

Step 6

Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, pressing the edges firmly to seal. Ensure there are no air bubbles inside.

Step 7

Bring the two outer corners of the triangle towards each other and seal with a dab of water, creating a pleated effect.

Step 8

Repeat this process until all the filling is used and the dumplings are shaped.

Step 9

Line a bamboo steamer with parchment paper or cabbage leaves to prevent sticking.

Step 10

Arrange the dumplings in the steamer, making sure they do not touch each other.

Step 11

Bring water to a boil in a wok or large saucepan that can hold the bamboo steamer.

Step 12

Place the steamer over the boiling water, cover, and steam the dumplings for about 8-10 minutes or until the prawns are cooked through and the wrappers turn translucent.

Step 13

Remove the steamer from the heat and let the dumplings rest for a minute before serving.

Step 14

Serve hot with soy sauce or chili sauce for dipping.
