Ingredients

  • 1 piece (about 10-12 oz) ribeye steak (or your preferred cut)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8 pieces pepperoni slices
  • 0.25 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 0.25 cup black olives, sliced
  • 4 pieces fresh basil leaves

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Step 2

Pat the steak dry with paper towels and rub it with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

Step 3

Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until it is smoking hot. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sear the steak for 2-3 minutes on each side until it develops a nice crust. Remove from heat.

Step 4

Place the skillet with the steak directly into the preheated oven and cook for another 5-7 minutes or until the steak reaches your desired level of doneness (use a meat thermometer: 130-135°F for medium-rare).

Step 5

Remove the steak from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Reduce the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).

Step 6

Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the top of the steak, as if it were the crust of a pizza.

Step 7

Top the steak with shredded mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, red onion, and black olives.

Step 8

Return the skillet to the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 9

Remove the skillet from the oven and garnish the Steakzza with fresh basil leaves.

Step 10

Slice the Steakzza into portions and serve immediately. Enjoy your savory steak-pizza hybrid!
