Ingredients

  • 2 pieces ribeye steak (or any steak cut of choice)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Remove the steaks from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before cooking to bring them to room temperature.

Step 2

Season both sides of the steaks with salt and black pepper.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

Step 4

Add the steaks to the skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. For medium-rare, the internal temperature should be about 130°F (54°C).

Step 5

Remove the steaks from the skillet, tent them with foil, and let them rest for 5-10 minutes.

Step 6

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter.

Step 7

Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Stir and cook for 10 minutes, allowing the onions to soften and caramelize.

Step 8

Stir in the caraway seeds and minced garlic, cooking for another 2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 9

Deglaze the skillet with balsamic vinegar, scraping up any browned bits at the bottom of the pan. Cook for 1 more minute.

Step 10

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter for a rich, glossy finish.

Step 11

Serve the steaks on plates, topping them generously with the caraway onions.

Step 12

Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious Steak with Caraway Onions!
