Ingredients

  • 12 oz lo mein noodles
  • 1 lb flank steak
  • 6 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 1 large carrot, julienned
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 cup water

Directions

Step 1

Cook the lo mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and toss with 1 teaspoon of sesame oil to prevent sticking. Set aside.

Step 2

Thinly slice the flank steak against the grain into bite-sized strips. In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 teaspoon of cornstarch. Toss the steak strips in the mixture and let marinate for 10 minutes.

Step 3

In another small bowl, combine the remaining 4 tablespoons of soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, brown sugar, and water. Stir well to create the sauce, and set aside.

Step 4

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated steak strips and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 6

Add the julienned carrot, sliced red bell pepper, and broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Step 7

Return the cooked steak strips to the skillet. Pour the prepared sauce over the steak and vegetables, stirring to coat everything evenly.

Step 8

Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss gently to combine with the sauce, steak, and vegetables. Allow everything to heat through for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 9

Remove from heat, garnish with sliced green onions, and serve immediately.
