Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Top round steak (or cube steak)
  • 0.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 3 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 Yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 Green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 14.5 oz can Canned diced tomatoes
  • 0.5 tsp Dried thyme
  • 12 oz Egg noodles
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 0.75 cups Heavy cream
  • 1 cups Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Slice the top round steak into 4-ounce portions and pound each piece lightly to about 1/2-inch thickness.

Step 2

In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Dredge each steak piece in the flour mixture, coating evenly, and shake off excess.

Step 3

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak pieces for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned. Remove and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and green bell pepper. Sauté for 4-5 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.

Step 5

Stir in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, canned diced tomatoes (with their juices), and dried thyme. Scrape the bottom of the skillet to deglaze. Bring to a simmer.

Step 6

Return the seared steak pieces to the skillet. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes, flipping the steak halfway through, until tender.

Step 7

While the steak simmers, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 8

In a separate small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir in the heavy cream and gradually add the shredded cheddar cheese, whisking until smooth. Season with a pinch of salt if needed.

Step 9

Toss the cooked egg noodles with the cheese sauce until evenly coated.

Step 10

To serve, divide the cheese noodles among plates, top with the steak grillades and sauce, and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
