  • 1 head Green cabbage
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 0.5 lb Ground pork
  • 1 cup Cooked white rice
  • 1 medium, finely chopped Onion
  • 2 minced Garlic cloves
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 28 oz can Crushed tomatoes
  • 1 15 oz can Tomato sauce
  • 1 cup Chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 2 tbsp chopped Parsley

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Remove core from the cabbage and carefully separate the leaves, keeping them intact. Blanch the cabbage leaves in the boiling water for 2-3 minutes until softened. Drain and set aside to cool.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, cooked rice, onion, garlic, egg, paprika, salt, pepper, and half of the chopped parsley. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

Step 3

Take one cabbage leaf and lay it flat. Place about 2-3 tablespoons of the filling onto the center of the leaf. Fold the sides of the leaf over the filling and roll it tightly from the stem end to the tip. Repeat with the remaining leaves and filling.

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down in the pot, layering them if needed.
