Ingredients

  • 150 grams unsalted butter
  • 200 grams dark chocolate
  • 250 grams granulated sugar
  • 50 grams brown sugar
  • 3 pieces large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 100 grams all-purpose flour
  • 30 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 100 grams chocolate chips (optional)
  • 50 grams chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line an 8x8-inch (20x20 cm) square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and dark chocolate together over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and brown sugar with the melted chocolate mixture until well combined.

Step 4

Add the eggs one at a time, whisking thoroughly after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and salt into the wet ingredients, and gently fold until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 6

If using chocolate chips or chopped nuts, fold them into the batter at this stage.

Step 7

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Step 9

Remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Step 10

Once cooled, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the brownies out of the pan. Cut into 12 squares and serve. Enjoy!
