Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 American cheese slices
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices sliced tomato
  • 8 slices sliced pickles
  • 0.25 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp sweet relish
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, prepare the burger spread by combining the mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet relish, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well and set aside.

Step 2

Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape into patties about 1/2 inch thick. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.

Step 4

Cook the burger patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. During the final minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.

Step 5

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns in a separate pan or under a broiler for about 1-2 minutes until golden and warm.

Step 6

Spread a generous layer of the prepared burger spread on the inside of both the top and bottom buns.

Step 7

Layer the bottom bun with a lettuce leaf, a tomato slice, and 2 pickle slices. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top.

Step 8

Finish by placing the top bun over the patty, gently pressing down to secure the layers.

Step 9

Repeat the assembly with the remaining ingredients to make 3 more burgers.

Step 10

Serve immediately with your favorite sides and enjoy!
