Heat 1.25 cups of water in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat until it begins to boil. Add 0.5 teaspoons of salt and stir.
Remove the saucepan from heat. Add 1 cup of couscous and 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the hot water, stir to combine, cover the pan, and let it sit for 5 minutes.
