Ingredients

  • 500 grams fresh spinach
  • 200 grams ricotta cheese
  • 150 grams cream cheese
  • 100 grams Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 100 milliliters heavy cream
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons black pepper
  • 0.125 teaspoons nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 3 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Lightly grease a medium-sized baking dish and set aside.

Step 2

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 3

Gradually add the fresh spinach to the skillet, stirring frequently. Cook until all the spinach has wilted, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and drain any excess liquid.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, cream cheese, half of the grated Parmesan, heavy cream, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.

Step 5

Fold the cooked spinach into the cheese mixture. Stir well to ensure the spinach is evenly coated with the creamy mixture.

Step 6

Transfer the spinach and cheese mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Step 7

In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the remaining Parmesan cheese and melted butter. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the top of the spinach.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbling.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 10

Serve warm as a side dish or pair it with crusty bread for a delicious appetizer.
