Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp ginger (grated)
  • 2 tbsp red chili paste
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 2 stalks green onions (sliced)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. Toss them in a bowl with the cornstarch until evenly coated.

Step 2

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

Step 3

Once the oil is hot, add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and lightly crispy. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 5

Add the red chili paste, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, water, and sriracha to the skillet. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer for 1-2 minutes until slightly thickened.

Step 6

Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, tossing them in the sauce until fully coated and heated through, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 7

Transfer the shrimp to a serving dish. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if using.

Step 8

Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
