Ingredients

  • 1 head green cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 pieces garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 stalks scallions

Directions

Step 1

Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and cut it in half. Core the cabbage and slice it into thin shreds.

Step 2

Peel and mince the garlic cloves. Thinly slice the scallions and set them aside for garnish.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and let it warm up for 1 minute.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic to the pan and sauté for 30 seconds, stirring constantly to avoid burning.

Step 5

Stir in the red chili flakes and paprika, cooking for another 30 seconds to release their aroma.

Step 6

Add the shredded cabbage to the pan and toss it well to coat with the spicy oil mixture.

Step 7

Cook the cabbage for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it softens and begins to caramelize around the edges.

Step 8

Drizzle the soy sauce and apple cider vinegar over the cabbage, and sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

Step 9

Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to blend the flavors together.

Step 10

Remove the pan from heat and garnish the spicy sautéed cabbage with sliced scallions.

Step 11

Serve immediately as a side dish or as part of a larger meal. Enjoy!
