Ingredients

  • 2 cups raw peanuts
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest

Directions

Step 1

Preheat a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the vegetable oil to the skillet and let it heat for about 30 seconds.

Step 3

Stir in the raw peanuts and toast them, stirring frequently, for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden brown and fragrant. Be careful not to burn them.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to low and sprinkle the chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin powder, cayenne pepper, sugar, and salt evenly over the peanuts.

Step 5

Stir well to coat the peanuts in the spice mixture, cooking for another 1-2 minutes to let the spices toast slightly and adhere to the peanuts.

Step 6

Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the lime zest for a fresh burst of flavor.

Step 7

Allow the peanuts to cool completely on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper before serving or storing.

Step 8

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
