Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef sirloin (sliced thin)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 6 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 red bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 yellow onion (sliced)
  • 2 green onions (thinly sliced)
  • 4 cups cooked white rice or noodles (for serving)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef, cornstarch, and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. Mix well and let marinate for 10 minutes.

Step 2

In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and 2 tablespoons of water. Set aside.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.

Step 4

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the wok. Stir in the minced garlic and red chili flakes, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 5

Add the sliced green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and yellow onion to the wok. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Step 6

Return the cooked beef to the wok, then pour in the prepared sauce. Stir well to combine and cook for 2-3 minutes, letting the sauce thicken slightly.

Step 7

Remove the wok from heat and garnish the dish with sliced green onions.

Step 8

Serve the Spicy Garlic Beef Stir Fry hot over steamed rice or noodles.
