Ingredients

  • 300 grams Pasta (penne, spaghetti, or fusilli)
  • 200 grams Broccoli
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon zest
  • 50 grams Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 cup Water

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente according to the package instructions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta and set it aside.

Step 2

While the pasta cooks, prepare the broccoli by cutting it into small florets. Blanch the florets in boiling water for 2 minutes, then drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Add the red chili flakes to the skillet and stir for 30 seconds to release their flavor.
