Ingredients

  • 12 oz linguine pasta
  • 4 bratwurst sausages
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1.5 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1 28-oz can canned crushed tomatoes
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the linguine according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, drain the rest, and set aside.

Step 2

While the pasta cooks, remove the casings from the bratwurst sausages and crumble the meat into bite-sized pieces.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the bratwurst pieces and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Remove the cooked sausage from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the finely chopped yellow onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
