Ingredients

  • 3 lbs Pork ribs
  • 12 oz Dark beer
  • 3 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 2 tsp Paprika
  • 2 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 1.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 cup Barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).

Step 2

Remove the silver membrane from the back of the pork ribs to help tenderize them. Cut the ribs into smaller racks if necessary for easier handling.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to create a dry rub.

Step 4

Rub both sides of the ribs generously with olive oil, then coat them evenly with the dry rub. Massage the spices into the ribs for better flavor absorption.

Step 5

Place the seasoned ribs in a large resealable plastic bag or a container. Pour the dark beer over the ribs, ensuring they're fully submerged. Seal the bag/container and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (or overnight for best results).

Step 6

Remove the ribs from the marinade and reserve 1/2 cup of the liquid for later use. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.

Step 7

Wrap each rack of ribs tightly in aluminum foil, creating a sealed packet. Place the foil packets on a baking sheet.

Step 8

Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 2 1/2 hours until tender.

Step 9

Carefully remove the ribs from the oven and open the foil packets. Brush the ribs generously with barbecue sauce, and transfer them to a grill or broiler.

Step 10

Grill or broil the ribs on medium-high heat for about 5-10 minutes, brushing more barbecue sauce on the ribs as they cook, until caramelized and slightly charred.

Step 11

Optional: Combine the reserved beer marinade and any remaining barbecue sauce in a small saucepan. Simmer for 5-10 minutes to create a dipping sauce.

Step 12

Serve the Spicy Beer Pork Ribs hot, with dipping sauce on the side if desired. Enjoy!
