Thinly slice the beef against the grain into bite-sized strips and place them in a bowl.
In the bowl with the beef, add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and the cornstarch. Mix well and let the beef marinate for 10 minutes while preparing the vegetables.
Trim the woody ends off the asparagus and cut the stalks into 2-inch pieces. Slice the button mushrooms thinly. Mince the garlic and grate the ginger.
In a small bowl, combine the remaining 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, and red chili flakes. Stir to form the sauce and set aside.
Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned on all sides but not fully cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Toss in the minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the asparagus and mushrooms to the skillet. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender but still crisp.
Return the beef to the skillet along with the prepared sauce. Stir everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through and the sauce has thickened, coating all the ingredients.
Drizzle sesame oil over the dish and season with a pinch of salt and black pepper to taste.
Remove from heat and serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
