Ingredients

  • 400 grams firm tofu
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic clove
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 stalks green onions
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1

Drain and press the tofu for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.

Step 2

After pressing, cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes and set aside.

Step 3

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sriracha, maple syrup, rice vinegar, minced garlic cloves, and ground ginger.

Step 4

Place the tofu cubes in a large bowl and gently toss with cornstarch to coat evenly on all sides.

Step 5

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 6

Add the tofu cubes to the skillet and pan-fry for 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden brown and crispy.

Step 7

Reduce the heat to medium and pour the spicy sauce mixture over the tofu. Toss gently to coat the tofu in the sauce and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Step 8

Remove the tofu from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Step 9

Serve immediately on its own or over rice, noodles, or a bed of steamed vegetables.
